Experts predict Bills' Josh Allen will win MVP; Buccaneers' Tom Brady gets no votes

Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills is widely viewed as, at the very worst, one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL today. 

Allen received Most Valuable Player votes for the 2020 season but earned none this past winter after he finished the 2021 campaign sixth among eligible signal-callers with a 60.7 total QBR, seventh with 36 passing touchdowns and eighth with 4,407 passing yards, per ESPN stats. 

Some clearly believe the 26-year-old is about to find a new level. 

For a piece published by the league's website on Wednesday, 25 experts were asked to predict who will win the top end-of-season individual awards this coming winter. Allen ran away with MVP and earned 12 votes, six more than Los Angeles Chargers quarterback and second-place candidate Justin Herbert. 

"He's coming off a 4,407-yard, 36-touchdown passing season, was the Bills' second-leading rusher (763 yards) and entered a different orbit during the playoffs, shredding a Bill Belichick defense and going toe-to-toe with Patrick Mahomes in a postseason epic," NFL Media's Judy Battista explained about her decision to choose Allen for MVP. "With even more weapons at his disposal (the emergent Isaiah McKenzie, for one), Allen is poised to get the only things that have eluded him so far in his career: an MVP trophy and a Super Bowl ring." 

Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals and Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs both received two votes. Reigning MVP and Green Bay Packers superstar Aaron Rodgers, who won the award for each of the past two seasons, earned only a single vote. 

Meanwhile, nobody from the panel voted for Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback and ageless wonder Tom Brady. 

Brady turned 44 years old in August 2021 and then went on to lead the NFL with 5,316 passing yards, 43 touchdowns through the air and 485 total completions. For a myriad of reasons, a handful of experts aren't expecting a repeat performance from the G.O.A.T. this time around during what may be his last season as an active player.
