Giants' Kayvon Thibodeaux throws jab at 49ers after NFC Championship

The New York Giants season is over, but defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux is feeling better about things.

Following the San Francisco 49ers' 31-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, Thibodeaux took to social media to throw a jab at the team by the Bay.

The Eagles dominated on the scoreboard, but the score didn't tell the entire story.

The 49ers lost quarterback Brock Purdy to an elbow injury early in the first half before similarly losing backup Josh Johnson later in the game.

Johnson's injury forced Purdy to come back into the game without the ability to throw, hampering the 49ers' offense tremendously throughout the second half.

Thibodeaux's comment can easily be disproven. The Giants and Thibodeaux finished 9-7 and in third place in the NFC East.

Meanwhile, the 49ers, playing mainly with their third-string quarterback, won the NFC West with a 13-4 mark and advanced further in the postseason than the G-men.

Furthermore, the Eagles also eliminated the Giants, defeating them by 31 points in the NFC divisional round, 38-7. The 49ers, on the other hand, lost by 24 points sans a quarterback with a healthy throwing arm.

Whether Thibodeaux took his comment seriously or not, it's probably wise for a first-year player to stay quiet in these situations.

Selected fifth overall by the Giants in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Oregon, Thibodeaux didn't have the kind of season many predicted. The 22-year-old recorded 49 tackles, four sacks, and two forced fumbles in 14 starts during his rookie campaign.
