How the Packers can utilize seventh-round WR Samori Toure

Samori Toure was taken at pick No. 258 in the seventh round of this year's NFL Draft out of Nebraska. The Green Bay Packers were the owners of the pick. Of course, getting drafted in the seventh round will make a lot of fans and analysts doubt Toure's abilities. However, they might be doubting him way too early. He was one of the more underrated prospects coming into the draft and is now going to be catching passes from Aaron Rodgers.

Green Bay will have a plan for No. 83.

Toure is ready for the opportunity in Green Bay.

"It feels great to be here. It's such a historical, storied program," Toure said during the team's OTA portion earlier this offseason.

The Oregon native has a history of playing well at both big and small programs. He played the first three years of his college career at Montana before transferring to Nebraska. Toure was an All-American at Montana in 2019. He put up fantastic numbers. He had 67 receptions for 1,107 yards and 10 touchdowns. He practically doubled his output in the two previous years.

In his lone season at Nebraska, he led the Cornhuskers with 46 receptions for 898 yards and five touchdowns. He had five games of at least 100 yards receiving, which is tied for the most in a season in Nebraska history. He also had the second-highest yards-per-reception mark in Nebraska history among receivers with at least 40 catches in a season (19.5).

Make no mistake about it. Toure is not just some random seventh-round pick that will be cut before the start of the season. He can play, and he can play at a high level. The Packers are going to take advantage of his big-play ability. His 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame might not jump off the charts, but he plays bigger than the defender. With head coach Matt LaFleur calling plays, Toure will have a chance to make a big splash in this offense when given an opportunity.
