Jaguars in line for top pick in 2022 NFL Draft after Lions' upset win

The Jacksonville Jaguars now have the worst record in the NFL with three weeks to play after the Detroit Lions pulled off a shocking upset of the Arizona Cardinals in Week 15.

The Lions were winless through the first 12 weeks of the season, but the 30-12 win over the Cardinals was Detroit's second victory in three weeks. Detroit now sits at 2-11-1, just ahead of the Jaguars who fell to 2-12 with a loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday. The New York Jets and the Texans aren't far behind with matching 3-11 records.

Jacksonville picked first overall for the first time in franchise history when it selected Trevor Lawrence with the top pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Just a few years ago, the Cleveland Browns picked first overall in the 2017 and 2018 NFL drafts.

Unlike the 2021 NFL Draft, there's no clear cut top prospect expected to be picked first. Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson and Oregon defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux have each appeared in the top spot in mock drafts.

The Jaguars are set to play the Jets in Week 16 followed by games against the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts to round out the season. The Lions finish the season with games against the Atlanta Falcons, Seattle Seahawks, and Green Bay Packers.
