Jets' Aaron Rodgers shares advice for Panthers rookie Bryce Young

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers offered advice to Carolina Panthers rookie Bryce Young amid joint practices involving the two clubs.

"Be gentle with yourself," Rodgers said Wednesday afternoon about Young, per Tzvi Machlin of The Spun. "It's a long journey. It feels like every little snap in practice is the end of the world if it doesn't go right. Not true. As long as you hold onto your confidence and enjoy the ride, learn new things every day. He's got a great head on his shoulders so he'll be fine."

Both signal-callers are encountering new experiences this summer. Rodgers, 39, is with a different team for the first time since the Green Bay Packers drafted him in the spring of 2005. Young, meanwhile, turned 22 last month and is preparing for his introduction to NFL action as the first overall choice of this year's draft.

"It was definitely great," Young said about his interaction with Rodgers on Wednesday, per Anthony Rizzuti of Panthers Wire/USA Today. "It’s great being able to see him work and see him operate. That’s someone that I’ve observed and always looked at and watched for a long time growing up."

Rodgers has a history of leaving positive impressions on first-year quarterbacks via chats enjoyed during summer sessions. In 2021, the future Hall of Famer spent some time during joint practices featuring the Jets and Packers with then-rookie Zach Wilson. Wilson is now learning while serving as Rodgers' primary backup with Gang Green.

"He talked a little bit about his experience and wished me luck and asked me about how things were going," Young added about his conversation with Rodgers. "But just for him to take the time to come out and to say something, I really appreciate it."

Young is on track to make his NFL preseason debut at Bank of America Stadium against the Jets on Saturday afternoon.
