When Zach Wilson threw his first career NFL touchdown pass during the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers, things were looking up for the New York Jets. However, the positive moment didn't last long.
Jets left tackle Mekhi Becton, one of Gang Green's most important players, suffered a potentially serious injury on Wilson's touchdown pass. His leg got rolled up on, and trainers rushed out to help him before he was carted off the field.
The Jets listed Becton as doubtful to return to Sunday's game.

The Jets need Becton to be healthy this year as Wilson's blind-side protector. Becton was selected 11th overall in 2020 and showed potential as a rookie last season.
New York has had an abysmal offensive line over the last several years. If Becton misses a significant period of time or is out for the season, the Jets will be in trouble.
New York's next two games are against the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos, two teams with solid defensive units. So things won't get any easier for Wilson and the Jets in the coming weeks if Becton is out.
