Jets' Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominee isn't on the team anymore

The New York Jets fell to 0-12 on the season via a last-second touchdown pass delivered by Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr on a play that involved the Jets sending the house on a blitz and that ultimately cost defensive coordinator Gregg Williams his job.

It turns out that may not be the most Jets-y thing to happen this month.

On Thursday, the NFL unveiled each team's nominee for the 2020 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award. Cornerback Pierre Desir is among the list of names and will represent the Jets.

There's just one problem: Desir isn't on the Jets. New York parted ways with the 30-year-old in mid-November following a disappointing spell with the club, during which he surrendered completions on 74.5% of the targets thrown his way.

The Baltimore Ravens added Desir to their practice squad in late November and, as Charean Williams noted for Pro Football Talk, promoted him to the active roster ahead of Tuesday's game against the Dallas Cowboys that Baltimore won to improve to 7-5 on the season.

Offensive lineman Bradley Bozeman is Baltimore's nominee for the Man of the Year Award.

The Jets will look to get their first victory of the campaign when they play at the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday afternoon.
