Lamar Jackson on facing Joe Burrow: 'I like his game' but 'don't wish him success against us'

Joe Burrow has impressed in his first four games as a Cincinnati Bengal, so much so that he has caught the attention of another AFC North quarterback: Lamar Jackson. The reigning MVP said that Burrow has been impressive so far but, that being said, he still hopes he experiences some rookie struggles when the two face off this weekend.

"I like his game," Jackson said of Burrow. "I see he's broken records for passing yards in consecutive weeks. That's pretty dope. But I don't wish him success against us. I do want to win this game."

That's not too surprising of a response, as it would be strange if the quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens hoped his opponent would light up the scoreboard. Still, it has to mean a lot for a rookie quarterback to hear one of the best players at your position is a fan of your game. And Burrow has made it clear the admiration is very mutual, as he spoke about how much he is looking forward to competing against Jackson.

"I'm excited to compete against [Jackson]," Burrow said. "Obviously, he's one of the best players in the league right now going back the last two, three years. He's unbelievable, he's fun to watch."

While this quarterback matchup is exciting, the actual game might be decidedly less so. After all, the Ravens still look like one of the most dominant teams in the NFL as long as they're not playing the Chiefs. Meanwhile, the Bengals are still struggling despite their promising future with Burrow at the helm.
