Left tackle is one of the most expensive positions on an NFL roster for good reason, its hard to win a Super Bowl without one. The Los Angeles Rams may be in the market to upgrade from Alaric Jackson, who is good, but not great. He also doesn’t fit the new direction in the running game. The Rams maybe looking to upgrade and upsize at the position. The draft will be an opportunity to find THE guy or at least find THE NEXT guy.

Offensive Tackles for the Los Angeles Rams to Watch at the NFL Combine

Amarius Mims, Georgia, 6’7″ 330 LBS

Amarius Mims emerged as a standout offensive tackle prospect with his rare fusion of size, athleticism, and raw power. His journey is similar to that of other late bloomers, like Phil Loadholt. Despite a limited number of starts, Mims is an imposing physical presence and was impressive for the time he was on-field.

His versatility along the offensive line and his innate physical gifts make him catnip for the Rams. It all depends on whether the Rams feel like they can get him up to speed for pro edge rushers in time for Week 1.

He has all the makings of an elite left tackle and with Jackson still on the roster, he has time to develop into a star. Are they willing to make the bet that Mims will?

Kiran Amegadjie, Yale, 6’5″ 325 LBS

Kiran Amegadjie didn’t even start playing football until halfway through high school, but now he’s got NFL scouts buzzing thanks to his standout performances in the Ivy League. Unfortunately, he was sidelined with a season-ending injury in 2023, missing out on half of Yale’s games, and didn’t get to compete against tougher competition at the Senior Bowl.

On film, Amegadjie stands out. He’s got this rare length, light feet, and smooth moves that make him look like a natural out there. His potential is off the charts. You have to like the chances of a Yale man when it comes to learning and developing.

The Rams can get him in the second round at pick 52, which offers a bit of relief rather than Mims in the first round but is still pretty rich for a work-in-progress.

Blake Fisher, Notre Dame, 6’6″ 310 LBS

Notre Dame’s other tackle, Blake Fisher was in Joe Alt‘s shadow. That is easy to do and may be why he is flying so far under the radar. Fisher isn’t a freakish athlete, but he is among the smartest and most cerebral players in the position. But he also comes from one of the best programs for turning out great offensive linemen.

The good outweighs the bad with Fisher, but the biggest question is can he move to the left side? Either way, he will require time, so he could be a good succession plan behind Los Angeles Rams, right tackle, Rob Havenstein.
