Meet the Newest New England Patriot: Michael Jordan

The New England Patriots added some depth to their offensive line on Wednesday, signing Michael Jordan to a future contract. The offensive guard was released from the Green Bay Packers practice squad this past weekend.

The Cincinnati Bengals selected Jordan in the fourth round (No. 136) of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. Jordan started as a true freshman for the Buckeyes, playing both guard and center during his college career. At 6-foot-6, 315 pounds, Jordan provides a lot of bulk on the interior of the offensive line.

Michael Jordan played his first NFL seasons with the Bengals, starting in 19 of the 27 games he appeared in. Cincinnati released Jordan as part of the final roster cutdown before the 2021 season and he was immediately signed by the Carolina Panthers. Jordan spent his next two seasons in Carolina, playing in 28 games with ten starts. He was part of the Panthers final cuts in 2023. Among his highlights for the Panthers was a touchdown during the 2022 season finale. Jordan recovered a fumble in the end zone for the score.

Jordan signed with Green Bay’s practice squad on Sept. 12, 2023, and remained there until his release on Jan. 20, 2024. He did not appear in any games for the Packers this past season. Despite being in the NFL for the past five seasons, Jordan does not turn 26 until tomorrow.

With the addition of Michael Jordan, the Patriots have six interior offensive linemen on their 2024 roster . He joins David Andrews, Jake Andrews, Atonio Mafi, Sidy Sow, and Cole Strange.
