Miami Dolphins fill multiple coaching vacancies with in-house promotions
Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins are apparently going to stick with what they have after parting ways with two household names on their coaching staff earlier this month.

Although no formal announcement has been made, the team has apparently promoted Mathieu Araujo to cornerbacks coach, as well as designating Ryan Slowik as defensive backs coach and pass game specialist, according to the team's online coaching staff roster.

The team parted ways with former Dolphins players Sam Madison and Renaldo Hill, who held those positions in 2023.  Madison joined the Dolphins' staff after the 2021 season, serving as the Dolphins' cornerbacks coach for both years.  He played with the Dolphins from 1997-2005.  Hill, who played for the Dolphins from 2006-2008, came on board last February after serving as the Chargers' defensive coordinator.

Araujo joined the Dolphins' staff in 2022 an assistant defensive backs coach with the Dolphins, a role he held for the past two seasons.

Slowik joined the Dolphins as a senior defensive assistant in 2022 but received a significant promotion to outside linebackers coach for the 2023 season.  The Dolphins' outside linebackers were particularly productive under his tutelage, as Jaelan Phillips was having a strong year before suffering a torn Achilles against the Jets on Black Friday.  Andrew Van Ginkel also had likely the best year of his career in 2023.

New defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver now hopes that he will see the same kind of turnaround in a secondary that was exposed at various times of the year in 2023.
