NEW ORLEANS -- The additions and retention are finally starting to roll in steadily for the New Orleans Saints. After a big day with the acquisition of defensive end Chase Young, the Saints have been busy with some additional quality depth signings.

On Thursday, New Orleans announced that safety Ugo Amadi has agreed to return to the team on another one-year deal. Amadi was signed by the Saints in the 2023 offseason and appeared in a variety the game's phases.

The sixth-year defensive back took snaps in the slot, out wide and in the box for the Saints in 2023. He received reps on defense in a total of 8 contests. But for 17 games, he was also a key part of the team's special teams unit. He was a part of the return and coverage units in both the kicking and punting game. He also contributed in the field goal block unit as well.

Much of the attrition the Saints have experienced so for this offseason has had considerable impact on their special teams units. The losses of linebacker Zack Baun, cornerback Isaac Yiadom and defensive tackle Malcolm Roach have each left some holes in the third phase of the game, one the Saints take very seriously.

The signing of wide receiver Stanley Morgan Jr., former Cincinnati Bengals gunner, helps in that phase for certain. Now re-signing Amadi is another step in the right direction for the team.
