New York Jets Offensive Lineman Suffers Dislocated Knee Cap; Considered Week-to-Week – Week 8
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets have avoided a severe blow to their offensive line, or at least for now. Center Connor McGovern suffered a dislocated knee cap in Week 8, per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. McGovern sustained a knee injury in his team’s epic 13-10 win over the New York Giants on Sunday but has looked to avoid missing substantial time. He will get a second opinion but is considered week-to-week.

New York Jets: Injury-Riddled Sunday

The New York Jets left Sunday’s contest with a bevy of injuries. Nose tackle Al Woods suffered a torn Achilles and will be out for the remainder of the year, while fellow offensive lineman Wes Schweizer left the game with a calf injury. Schweizer bumped over to the center position after the McGovern injury but didn’t last long, with Xavier Newman getting his number called shortly after. Newman was a practice squad call-up ahead of Week 8. The Jets also operated without right guard Joe Tippmann due to injury. Schweizer was his initial replacement before McGovern went down. The New York Jets also have offensive tackle Duane Brown and guard Alijah Vera-Tucker on the injured reserve (IR).

New York Jets: Playoff Hopes

The New York Jets picked up a massive win on Sunday, pushing their record to 4-3, heading into a crucial Monday night clash against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 9. New York sits well behind the 6-2 Miami Dolphins in the AFC East but is in a four-way tie with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, and Cincinnati Bengals for the final two Wild Card spots in the AFC. However, suppose the Jets can tread water long enough for MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers to return. In that case, they will immediately become one of the favorites to hoist the Lombardi trophy this season.
