NFL blatantly disrespects the Bears despite the team breaking a long-standing streak during the 2024 season
Kim Klement Neitzel-USA TODAY Sports

We now know the entire Chicago Bears' 2024 schedule including which games the team will be appearing on a national stage.

The Bears will be having just three primetime games in 2024, not counting the team's stand alone London matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars and the early Thanksgiving game against the Detroit Lions.

If that seems disgustingly low for the new-look Bears' team, that's because it is. For context, here's how many primetime games each team will have in the 2024 season.

Having teams such as the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Seattle Seahawks getting more primetime opportunities than the Bears, who have the same amount as the New York Giants and New Orleans Saints should be disappointing for any football viewer.

The Bears should have been expected to have more primetime games in 2024 than just the three listed on the schedule considering the hype surrounding the team heading into the upcoming season.

For starters, the Bears will be starting rookie first overall pick Caleb Williams out of the gate along with the rest of the top offensive play-makers around him while having a defense led by head coach Matt Eberflus that finished as a top unit in 2023.

All of the storylines this season pointed toward the Bears having these national televised opportunities but it wasn't the case. The Bears will, however, break a long-standing league streak which brings some relief.

According to The Athletics' Kevin Fishbain, no quarterback taken first overall has had at least three primetime games during his rookie season, the Bears and the team's rookie quarterback will have exactly that.

In comparison to the team's disappointing 2023 season with Justin Fields at quarterback, the Bears had four primetime games and four late window games. How on Earth does the 2024 Bears' team get fewer games than last season?

The most disappointing part for the league is not scheduling a single primetime game between the Bears and the Green Bay Packers, the oldest rivalry in NFL history with both teams entering a new era of football.

Week 11 in Chicago would have been the perfect opportunity to do so, instead the primetime games that are scheduled that week are the Washington Commanders at the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football, the Indianapolis Colts at the New York Jets on Sunday Night Football, and the Houston Texans at the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football.

It's a disappointing decision from the league and hopefully the play of the Bears during the season will force the league to move their land by flexing the Bears into more primetime slots down the stretch.
