NFL cutdown day: Vikings must trim roster to 53 players

National Football League teams must trim rosters to 53 players by 3 p.m. CT today and the Minnesota Vikings still have a lot of work to do as they whittle the roster down from 90 to 53. 

The Vikings announced 15 players who were released on Monday, and late Monday night NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that defensive linemen Ross Blacklock and Sheldon Day had been cut. 

Here's the running list of players who did not make the 53-man roster.

• Garett Maag, WR
• Wilson Huber, LB
• Abram Smith, RB
• Colin Thompson, TE

• Jarrid Williams, OL
• Josh Sokol, C
• Tay Gowan, CB
• Jake Gervase, S
• Tanner Vallejo, LB
• Sheldon Day, DL
• Ross Blacklock, DL

That's 17 cuts so far. Minnesota also traded offensive tackle Vederian Lowe to the Patriots on Sunday night, receiving a sixth-round pick in return. 

There are still 74 players on the official roster on the Vikings' website, so an additional 21 moves need to be made by 3 p.m. Check back throughout the day as we'll continue to update the list. 

Players who have been cut still have a chance to be signed to the 16-man practice squad.
