One of the Draft's Top WRs Models Game After Adams
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders have one of the best wide receivers in the National Football League's history on their team, Davante Adams. The All-Pro receiver has been one of the best in the league over the last decade and arguably the best receiver over the last few seasons.

Since joining the Raiders, Adams' influence has been felt on the field. Now, his influence has reached the next generation of receivers entering the NFL. One of the NFL Draft's top receivers says he models his game after Adams.

"Davante Adams," wide reciever Rome Odunze from the University of Washington said, when asked who he compares his skillset to. "I do a lot of his split-release technique. I'm still learning, still trying to figure out how he's so twitchy with it. I'm still getting there. With his size, his route-running ability, and his contested catch, I like to compare myself to him."

Odunze says he decided to participate in the combine to see where he ranks historically.

"Just for me, it was about being able to compete against generations before and generations to come and see where I stack up against all those people. I feel like it's a one-time thing that you can do once in your life. I just want to do it to the fullest, and it's something I can excel at, so that's why I decided to do it."

Odunze is one of the best receivers in the draft at catching contested passes, which speaks to his confidence in those situations.

"People say it's 50-50. For me, it's 100-0, right? I feel like you have to go in with that mindset that it's you and the ball," Oduzne said. "The defender is not even there. Just go and elevate and get the ball, and you'll come down with it."

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
