Patrick Mahomes okay after being 'stepped on' in Chiefs practice

No team wants their starting quarterback to get hurt during a practice, let alone during training camp before even the preseason starts. So naturally, when Patrick Mahomes was injured during practice on Monday hobbled toward the sidelines, there was sudden nervousness and fear for the superstar's health.

Mahomes ended up joining the team for the end of practice and was able to jog after suffering the injury. Afterward, head coach Andy Reid said the veteran QB had been, "stepped on," but was overall okay.

Kansas City would obviously be in rough shape if Mahomes had indeed suffered a significant injury. The five-year veteran has missed little time since taking over under center in 2018 but has also sustained nagging lower-body injuries during that have sidelined him.

He led the Chiefs to a 12-5 record last season as they regrouped after a rough beginning to the 2022 campaign, completing 66.3-percent of his passes. Mahomes threw for 4,839 yards with 37 touchdowns and a career-high 13 interceptions.
