Paxton Lynch signs with Saskatchewan Roughriders of CFL

Quarterback Paxton Lynch entered the NFL when the Denver Broncos selected him in the first round of the 2016 draft but ultimately flamed out of the league and hasn't appeared in a meaningful game since the fall of 2017.

Now, he'll give it a go in the CFL. The Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League announced Monday they've signed Lynch.

In total, Lynch completed 79 of 128 passes for 792 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions in NFL regular-season play. The Broncos waived him ahead of the start of the 2018 campaign, and he spent some time with the Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers but never played for either club.

According to 3DownNation, Saskatchewan quarterback Cody Fajardo is currently a betting favorite to win Most Outstanding Player honors for the upcoming campaign.

The CFL announced earlier this month that a 14-game regular season will begin Aug. 5 and end with the 108th Grey Cup on Dec. 12 in Hamilton. The league didn't play last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
