Post-waiver wire fantasy football pickups for Week 15

The fantasy playoffs are here. Keep the dream alive by adding these players Justin (Jefferson) case something goes wrong.

QB: Zach Wilson ( New York Jets)

If your playoff roster is thin at quarterback, don’t be afraid to go back to Zach. The Jets did last week and the third-year QB responded by going 27-of-36 for 301 yards and two touchdowns. He was also named AFC Player of the Week.

His 117.9 quarterback rating was his best of the season and third-best among NFL quarterbacks in Week 14. This week he’ll face a Miami team that lost to the Titans after collapsing in the fourth quarter of last week’s game.

Miami’s defense may need work but their offense has been prolific. Only the Cowboys score more points per game (32.4) than the Dolphins (31.6) but no team has more total yards (5,507) than Miami.

In other words, the Jets can’t keep up with players like Tyreek Hill and Raheem Mostert if Wilson doesn’t throw the ball. Things will get easier for the Jets in Week 16 against Washington’s league-worst defense, which makes Wilson a pretty good insurance policy for most fantasy teams.

Wilson is available in 95% of Yahoo! leagues.

RB: Elijah Mitchell (San Francisco 49ers)

He may be the NFL’s 88th-leading rusher with 149 yards in nine games, but if anything were to happen to league-leader Christian McCaffrey, most of his yardage would go to Mitchell.

Mitchell missed last week’s game against the Seahawks with a knee injury, but he was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice. Last week Jordan Mason scored a touchdown in relief of McCaffrey, but Mitchell likely would have taken the carry had he been available.

This week, San Francisco will face an Arizona team giving up the second-most points to running backs. In two weeks they’ll travel to Washington to play the league’s worst defense.

It never hurts to have players from high-scoring teams on your bench. The 49ers are second in total yards and third in points this season. Mitchell will never be McCaffrey, but he’s a sensible stash to start the fantasy playoffs.

Mitchell is available in 86% of Yahoo! leagues.

WR: Wan’Dale Robinson (New York Giants)

Robinson led the Giants with six catches on seven targets for 79 yards in the team’s upset victory over the Packers on “Monday Night Football.” His 32-yard catch in the fourth quarter helped set up the team’s game-winning field goal.

He also had a 32-yard run in the second quarter which could come in handy against a New Orleans team giving up the seventh-most rushing yards in the league. After the Saints game, the Giants have two games against Philadelphia who own the fifth-worst passing defense in the NFL.

Robinson is available in 89% of Yahoo! leagues.

TE: Chigoziem Okonkwo (Tennessee Titans)

The Titans play the Texans this week and again in Week 17. Okonkwo has seen five or more targets in four of his last five games and had a season-high 9.60 fantasy points against the Dolphins in Week 14.

Houston gives up the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends. With an average of 9.1 fantasy points over the past three games, Okonkwo offers a relatively safe floor for the next three weeks.

Okonkwo is available in 66% of Yahoo! leagues.

DST: Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons defense managed just one fantasy point against Tampa Bay but had 17 points against the Jets in Week 13. This week they face Carolina, a team that failed to score a touchdown against the Saints and allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing defenses this season

The Falcons defense is available in 48% of Yahoo! leagues.

K: Cairo Santos: (Chicago Bears)

Santos responded to last week’s recommendation with three field goals for 11 fantasy points against the Lions. He’s made at least three field goals in his last four games with an average of 13.5 fantasy points per game.

Santos is available in 98% of Yahoo! leagues.
