Rachel Bush Pens Tribute to Jordan Poyer: ‘Don’t Have The Words!’
Jamie Germano/Rochester Democrat and Chronicle / USA TODAY NETWORK

Jordan Poyer has circled his last wagon.

The longtime Western New York defender was the headliner of a salary cap-induced purge that bid farewell to several prominent Buffalo Bills . Poyer had manned the secondary since 2017 after coming over from the Cleveland Browns.

Poyer's wife, model and influencer Rachel Bush, penned a heartfelt tribute to her husband's Buffalo career on her Instagram story. The two have been married since 2018, officially tying the knot shortly after Poyer, whom Bush describes as her "All-Pro in life and on the field," wrapped up his first season in Buffalo.

“I don’t have the words yet but they are coming. (Along with so many photo memories),” Bush wrote. “Right now I just want my husband to know what a leader and inspiration he is."

“The impact he made will always be remembered, both within the football world and outside as well," Bush continued. "You (came) into Buffalo and gave the city something they were longing for. Changed the culture. You’re special my love and what you have done is such an accomplishment. A true game changer!!”

As a 2017 arrival, Poyer had been a staple of the Bills' ongoing run of prosperity in the new decade. Though he'll no longer appear on the team's depth chart, Poyer left a lasting impression on the team's record books: the 22 interceptions he took away are tied for second-best (with Jairus Byrd) among Buffalo's defenders in the new century and the 48 pass breakups are sixth all-time. Poyer also came to support those fighting alcoholism, citing his own battles that sprang up after the Bills fell to Houston in the 2019-20 AFC Wild Card playoffs.

Poyer's departure, combined with fellow releases Deonte Harty, Nyheim Hines, Mitch Morse, and Siran Neal, is set to save the Bills over $36 million in cap space.
