Rams Linebacker Jones Labeled as Leader of Defense by Teammate

The Los Angeles Rams had a better defense than many expected them to this season, and a lot of it came as a result of some great leadership by certain players.

In a recent interview with LAFB Network at Super Bowl LVII Radio Row, Rams defensive back Quentin Lake said that he felt that linebacker Ernest Jones was the leader of the defense.

"He was huge for us this year in terms of team morale. Not only his play... But just his vocal leadership. The energy that he brings to the team was critical for us this year," Lake said. "I think that [Jones] goes under the radar, especially for the Rams because other guys had success. Man, Ernest Jones had one hell of a year and I can’t wait to see what he does this upcoming year and hopefully for years to come."

Jones broke the record for most total tackles in a season by a Rams player with an absurd 145 tackles, and he did so in just his third season in the NFL. He also got all of these tackles in only 15 games, as he missed Week 9 and Week 17.

The star linebacker is only 24 years old, and he will only get better as he continues to gain more experience. If he does that, he could be looking to make the Pro Bowl next year, and maybe even one of the All-Pro Teams.

Jones was one of the players on the Rams' defense that over performed this season, and he will be looking to do that again next season while leading the Rams to another playoff appearance.
