Retired QB Ryan Fitzpatrick joins Amazon as NFL 'TNF' analyst

Earlier this month, veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick confirmed his decision to retire after he spent 17 seasons as an active NFL player. Fans didn't have to wait long to learn what is next for the popular signal-caller.

According to Nick Shook of the league's website and Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, Fitzpatrick has agreed to become a pregame analyst for Amazon Prime Video's "Thursday Night Football" coverage. Fitzpatrick is slated to work alongside Pro Football Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez and free agent cornerback Richard Sherman.

Sherman announced his move to Amazon last week but let it be known at that time he's "still leaving that door open" to play for a contender in need of secondary help at some point this fall or during the early winter months.

"Amazon jumped out at me," Fitzpatrick told Marchand. "In terms of it is something that’s fresh and new. It just made a lot of sense of what I was trying to get into."

Fitzpatrick added he likes that working on Thursdays allows him to spend time with his family over weekends during the football season.

"And, also, for me to be able to sit down with my kids and watch some of these games on Sunday," he remarked. "It is something I haven’t had a whole lot of time to do these last 17 years."

Pockets of fans likely will be hoping to witness some shirtless "Fitzmagic" during at least one "TNF" broadcast.
