Houston Texans receiver Robert Woods has been on quite the roller coaster over the past couple of seasons.

Woods had been widely considered one of the best WR2s in the NFL for several years, but an ACL tear in the middle of the 2021 season with the Los Angeles Rams changed his reputation drastically.

He was traded to the Tennessee Titans about a month after Los Angeles won the Super Bowl, and logged the lowest receiving yards mark of his career. Woods was released shortly after last season ended, but the Texans picked him up, hoping he'd work back to his old self.

In his first game with the Texans against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Woods hauled in 6-of-10 targets for 57 yards. After just one week, Woods told reporters during Monday's press conference that he feels back to his old self already.

"I feel great," Woods said. "Just being able to run some routes and get open feels good. Just being in this offense feels good and so does my body. I just feel like I'm back to myself."

Woods explained that his game wasn't perfect and that he should've "capitalized" on some accurate targets from rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud.

"I just got to make those plays for C.J.," Woods said. "If he's able to just get the ball out and give us the opportunity, we have to be a really great group and make plays for him because he's running and extending plays. If we could capitalize and extend those drives, I think it will turn into points."

Woods has been very outspoken about Stroud's abilities since he arrived in Houston.

"I think he's really growing as a quarterback," Woods said in August. "(Stroud) is seeing different defenses (during joint practices), different looks and he's commanding the offense."

As the Texans prepare for Week 2's matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, Woods is aiming to continue playing like it's the mid-2010s once again. However, that won't be possible without the chemistry between him and Stroud.
