Russell Wilson named ESSENCE Sexiest Man of the Moment

Russell Wilson, the newest Steelers quarterback, is on the cover of Essence, with the magazine declaring him as its “sexiest man of the moment.”

The magazine shared the cover of Wilson on social media. He is wearing an outfit that screams expensive, yet casual. The Steelers quarterback is wearing a fur jacket along with a white shirt and faded jeans.

In touting Wilson, Essense said in its post on X:

“Russell Wilson has just Touched Down as our second ESSENCE Sexiest Man of the Moment cover star. Throughout his storied tenure in the NFL, Russell has achieved unimaginable success on the gridiron. With a dynamic skill set and unique leadership qualities, he has established himself as a preeminent figure not only in football but also in entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and entertainment. Knowing who he is and whose he is – is the reason he will always be the top pick and topic of conversation.”

Wilson once dazzled the NFL when he was the starting quarterback with the Seahawks. While in Seattle, he made nine Pro Bowls, leading the Seahawks to two Super Bowl appearances with one win. But Wilson struggled after he requested a trade to the Broncos. He didn’t thrive in Denver. When Broncos management requested that he restructure the guaranteed money in his contract, Wilson said no. The team said it would release Wilson and eat the cost of his deal.

In March, the Steelers reached out to Wilson, taking a chance that the quarterback could revive his career in Steel City. Pittsburgh signed Wilson to the league minimum — Denver still supplement the salary with about $38 million.

And Russell Wilson was thankful to receive a chance to play for Mike Tomlin.

“To play 13 years in the NFL has been a dream come true,” Wilson said.

He added “to stand side by side” with Tomlin is “one of the greatest gifts in the world.”
