San Francisco 49ers' Deebo Samuel teases big news on the horizon while meeting F1 star Lando Norris
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers have not played a game in the United Kingdom since 2013, but wide receiver Deebo Samuel dropped a hint that could be about to change.

Samuel was recently in the UK and visited the McLaren Fomula One team, meeting driver Lando Norris, who won the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday.

It still hasn't been officially confirmed when the NFL schedule will be released, but NFL UK and Ireland, in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, appeared to tease a return to the UK for the Niners.

The tweet featured Samuel at McLaren, the wideout saying simply: "Big news coming." It was captioned with popcorn and Union Jack flag emojis.

The only club scheduled to be the home team in the three London games in 2024 whom the 49ers are penciled in to face is the Minnesota Vikings. If the Niners are play in London in the coming season, it will be against the Vikings as the road team at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

San Francisco is 2-0 in games in London, beating the Denver Broncos in 2010 as the home team and then routing the Jacksonville Jaguars as the road team in 2013.

The 49ers lost to the Vikings on the road last year, suffering a 22-17 defeat in Week 7.
