Seahawks TE Noah Fant found out Broncos traded him from TV

One-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Russell Wilson wasn't the only player directly impacted by the blockbuster trade between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos. While Denver happily received Wilson, the Broncos dealt multiple draft assets, signal-caller Drew Lock, defensive lineman Shelby Harris and tight end Noah Fant to Seattle.

Fant entered the NFL when the Broncos drafted him in the first round back in 2019 and, until the trade, had only been associated with that franchise. Per Kevin Patra of the league's website, Fant appeared on Denver sports radio station 104.3 The Fan this week and expressed frustration over how he was used in the Broncos' offense. The 24-year-old also said he learned he'd been traded from television reports and wished he heard the news directly from the club.

"Honestly, like from my perspective, I'm not going to say I've been the perfect prospect drafted in Denver, but I felt like I've done some pretty good things in Denver and had some really good moments," Fant explained. "But you know, it's a part of the business and I think that's kind of what I learned the most from this whole experience. I kind of like, you know, bled blue and orange a little bit and then when it kind of comes down to it, which is totally understandable, they had a chance at Russell Wilson. But it's kind of anybody's expendable so it just was one of those things."

Somewhat interestingly, All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner took to Twitter on March 11 to say he "didn't even hear" from the Seahawks that they released him. Seahawks general manager John Schneider and coach Pete Carroll later accepted blame for that miscue, and Schneider said he and the organization "owed" Wagner better.
