Tramon Williams should be a Packer Hall of Famer

The Green Bay Packers have had some very good cornerbacks walk through the halls at Lambeau Field. Charles Woodson, Herb Adderley, Al Harris and Sam Shields are just a few of the great names that have performed as lockdown cornerbacks in their careers as members of the Packers. Presently, Green Bay has a trio of Jaire Alexander, Rasul Douglas and Eric Stokes at cornerback that appears to be the best trio in the game. There was one particular Green Bay cornerback who was not mentioned, who helped connect Green Bay's old era of cornerbacks to its new era. His name was Tramon Williams, and he will become a Packer Hall of Famer eventually.

Williams went undrafted in 2006 out of Louisiana Tech and later joined the Packers practice squad after a brief stint with the Houston Texans. Williams would go on to play a decade in Green Bay during three different stints (2006-2014, 2018-2019, 2020). Williams would end up finishing his career tied for eighth all-time in passes defensed with 153. He was a shutdown defender and an interception machine. He recorded 30 interceptions for the Packers, including six during his Pro Bowl season in 2010 that ended with a Super Bowl victory. During that same Super Bowl run, Williams recorded a team-high three interceptions in the postseason. This includes his game-ending interception in the wild-card round against the Philadelphia Eagles and his two against the Atlanta Falcons in the divisional round (one of which was a 70-yard pick-six). It was a storybook season for No. 38. He was a key, cornerstone piece of Green Bay's defense with OLB Clay Matthews, MLB A.J. Hawk, S Nick Collins and CB/S Charles Woodson. Along with Green Bay, Williams would also end up playing for the Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals, and Baltimore Ravens in his 15-year career.

The Louisiana native is one of the best cornerbacks in Green Bay Packers history. There is no other way to say that. He was a lockdown cornerback, a playoff hero and a franchise favorite. He will be inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame at some point within the next half-decade. It is only a matter of time now.
