The New York Jets made an effort to acquire Tyreek Hill from the Kansas City Chiefs, but they really did not have much of a chance in the end.
The Jets were the runners-up in the Hill sweepstakes, with the wide receiver ultimately choosing to join the Miami Dolphins instead. On Thursday, Hill was asked how close he came to picking the Jets. The answer: not at all.
Tyreek Hill asked how close he was to picking the #Jets: "How close was I? Who? The Jets? … I knew I was going to pick Miami no matter what because I'm basically from here, I'm here all the time. This is home for me, for us."

The Jets made a competitive offer to the Chiefs for Hill, but it really did not matter what they were offering. Once Kansas City left it up to Hill, the Dolphins were essentially the only choice.
Hill risks some bulletin-board material here, since he’ll be playing the Jets twice a year in the AFC East. He’s never shied away from that sort of thing before, though, so he isn’t likely to be bothered if anyone in New York takes this personally.
