Veteran safety Tony Jefferson, who hasn't played since 2019, signing with 49ers

Tony Jefferson is returning to football.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the San Francisco 49ers are signing the former Baltimore Ravens safety.

Jefferson has not played since 2019 after tearing his ACL and was released by the Ravens in February 2020.

The 29-year-old received a four-year, $36 million deal in 2017, but he never lived up to the hype. He totaled just two interceptions, 11 passes defended, two forced fumbles, 3.5 sacks and 174 tackles in 35 games.

Jefferson went undrafted in 2013 and spent the first four seasons of his career with the Arizona Cardinals.
