Vikings QB coach Josh McCown at USC's pro day

Minnesota Vikings quarterbacks coach Josh McCown, with a small coffee in hand, was spotted at Southern Cal's pro day in Los Angeles on Wednesday morning.

Why would McCown go to represent the Vikings for an event especially focused on quarterback Caleb Williams, who is figured to be a lock to go No. 1 overall to the Chicago Bears in the first round of the NFL draft on April 25?

“We never know 100% what’s going to happen in the draft so it makes sense for the Vikings to do due diligence on Caleb Williams even if they think there is no chance that he will fall to them," says Purple Insider's Matthew Coller. "Plus there’s other USC players who might be potential draft picks so they might as well get a look at everyone."

The Bears have a huge contingent watching USC's pro day. Even new Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen was spotted greeting Williams when the star quarterback walked onto the field. Was it just a thing of convenience for Allen, who has spent his entire career with the Chargers in San Diego and now Los Angeles, or is there more to it?

Is McCown just getting a good look at Williams just in case he surprisingly falls in the draft? Is he there to watch Williams to get a bit of a scouting report to help the Vikings game plan to face him twice a season for the next decade?

It's draft season and we'll continue spending the next month overanalyzing everything about the Vikings and quarterbacks.
