Cody Latimer now is a free agent.
The wide receiver, who was facing multiple felony charges after being arrested in May, was released by the Washington Football Team on Sunday, according to ESPN's John Keim.
Latimer was arrested in May after gunshots were reported at an apartment complex in Colorado. The 27-year-old allegedly threatened a friend with his gun and fired the weapon during a poker game. He was facing eight charges, including second-degree assault, tampering with physical evidence and two counts of menacing.
The former Denver Broncos and New York Giants receiver was placed on the commissioner's exempt list in July. According to Keim's sources, Latimer's release by Washington was expected.
Latimer, who spent the last two seasons with the Giants, reeled in 24 receptions for 300 yards and two touchdowns last season.
