Scary times for Anaheim Ducks forward Jakob Silfverberg, who has been diagnosed with a blood clot in his right leg, The Athletic’s Eric Stephens reported.

Silfverberg, 31, has not been ruled out for the season, but he will not skate for the next two weeks, Stephens reported.

The veteran winger has appeared in 53 games this year for the Ducks scoring five goals and 21 points.

Here’s what Stephens had to say about the diagnosis:

As of now, they’re not terribly concerned. Both the winger and the Ducks are of the belief that it is being managed and that he can make a recovery before the season ends. If anything, there won’t be any pressure to get back in time for postseason play as Anaheim is headed for a fourth consecutive season without playoff action.

But Silfverberg’s health will be something to monitor going forward as he has played this 2021-22 season while coming off hip surgery last year.

Drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the second round of the 2009 draft, he’s appeared in 658 games between the Sens and Ducks. He joined Anaheim in a 2013 deal that saw him, a 2014 1st round pick and Stefan Noesen in exchange for Bobby Ryan.
