“I thought it was a little early, but yeah. Pretty hard hit.”

Bednar on Artturi Lehkonen‘s Injury:

“When a player goes to the hospital, level of concern is high, but I don’t have an update.”

Bednar on the game from the Avalanche:

“I thought we played hard. We made some mistakes, but I thought we played hard. Played harder as the game went on.”

Bednar on Avalanche goaltender Ivan Prosvetov:

“I thought he was good. I mean, I thought he was fine. The ones that beat him, they earned them. Or they earned some of them. We gave them some, but I thought as as whole, that’s the way I want our team to compete. We played hard. We weren’t perfect, never going to be, but I thought we did a nice job.”

Bednar on the hit Cogliano took:

“I think it’s a check from behind. Simple. Can’t hit him from behind.”

Bednar on the game winning goal from the Kraken:

“We got chasing. We had a one-on-one going behind the net, and Ross just got caught going to try and help him too quick, and they slipped it out front, and then they got the rebound they wanted on the weak side. It’s a mistake for sure, going to make some. Kind of bad timing on it, but it can happen.”

Bednar on the bounces:

“There were some bounces that I think went their way tonight. Usually my philosophy on it is when you’re getting the bounces, you’re earning them. I thought our guys worked extremely hard and didn’t come easy for us, but I think this is the National Hockey League, you have to expect to have to play exceptional, execution has to be exceptional and your effort has to be exceptional in order to win That’s the way it should be. That’s what makes winning so fun.”

Bednar on the Lehkonen incident: 

“I just looked at it once. I think it’s just that he got caught in a bad spot and ran into a big guy. Maybe I’m lost on this one, but when I just first glanced at it, I’m not sure it’s a penalty. I just think it was where they made contact, and the way he went in, and Oleksiak’s a big man, and he just kind of got his foot tangled and went in head first.”

Bednar on Byram’s response to the Cogliano hit:

“No problem with it at all. Dunn turns around to him, and he’s a willing combatant too. Two guys ready to settle it, so it was fine. I don’t think it was an instigator either.”
