Blackhawks' Brandon Hagel out two weeks with shoulder injury

The Chicago Blackhawks improved to 3-9-2 on the young season via Tuesday's shootout win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. They did so without the services of forward Brandon Hagel, who picked up a left shoulder injury in this past Sunday's win over the Nashville Predators.

Chicago confirmed Wednesday that setback will keep Hagel sidelined for roughly two weeks.

"I talked to the trainers today, and it’s going be maybe up to two weeks, which is good," interim coach Derek King told reporters Wednesday, per Phil Thompson of the Chicago Tribune. "It did look a lot worse than (after) we assessed it. I mean, we’re going to miss him, but at least it’s only two weeks."

King added the team will not rush Hagel back into action considering the nature of the issue. Chicago begins a four-game road trip after Friday night's matchup with the Arizona Coyotes.

Hagel has tallied four goals and two assists across 13 games this season. In August, he put pen to paper on a three-year contract worth $4.5 million, total, as a restricted free agent.
