Wild Make Patrick Maroon Trade with Bruins

Maroon has played for the the Anaheim Ducks, Edmonton Oilers, New Jersey Devils, St. Louis Blues, Tampa Bay Lightning and the Wild over his 13-year NHL career. The St Louis native have four goals and 12 assists for 16 points in 49 games this season. He has a Corsi for of 49.4 and a relative Corsi of -0.7. Maroon also a total of 60 penalty minutes this campaign.

The veteran depth forward has 121 goals and 183 assists for 304 points in 778 career games. He also a career total of 990 penalty minutes. Maroon was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the in the sixth round, 161st overall of the 2007 NHL Draft.

The soon-to-be 36-year-old is a three-time Stanley Cup champion. He got one Cup for his hometown team, which he helped beat his new employers. The man known as “Big Rig” got two more titles with the Lightning in 2020 and 2021.

What it Means

Well this might be awkward for some Bruins fans. Some of those supporters have a long memory of Maroon and the Blues ripping away the Stanley Cup from the Bruins. There’s also the history between Maroon and NESN announcer Jack Edwards.

However, there’s little disputing that Maroon can add an edge to a Bruins club on the bottom of their lineup. Maroon is willing to drop the clubs and throw the body at opposing players. He also has plenty of experience and has won three championships.

Those kind of intangibles could help a Bruins team looking to withstand the rigors of post-season hockey. There’s no substitute for experience and Maroon provides that.
