The Washington Capitals announced Monday that they had signed Russian forward Ivan Miroshnichenko to a three-year entry-level contract. According to Cap Friendly, he will make $885K at the NHL level and $82,500 in the AHL.

The 19-year-old was drafted 20th overall in the 2022 NHL Draft by the Capitals after being touted as a top-10 pick. While he bounced around between the MHL and VHL in Russia, he also played last season in the KHL with Avangard Omsk.

He scored his first KHL goal the day after Christmas and would register three goals and one assist for four points in 23 games. Miroshnichenko also had a battle with Hodgkins Lymphoma, which put him out of action during the 2021-22 season briefly, but as of November, he is cancer free.

He helped Russia during the 2021-22 Hlinka Gretzky Tournament to a first-place finish after notching four goals and five assists for nine points in five games.

The Capitals also announced they had signed defenseman Alexander Alexeyev to a two-year contract extension. The 23-year-old recorded five assists in 32 games this season with the Capitals.

Initially drafted 31st overall in the 2018 Draft, Alexeyev has spent most of his pro career so far with the Capitals American Hockey League affiliate, Hershey Bears.
