NHL best bets: Three plus-money plays for Friday 3/3

Friday in the NHL tends to be a good opportunity to test out some alternative approaches and avoid the obvious. It's been a funky night this season, and while we do have a few favorites parlayed for a play below, we're also getting unique with our looks. To celebrate 3/3, here's three plus-money plays on the ice.

1u: Jack Roslovic point (+106 FD)

Here's what I'm seeing. A feisty Columbus team that has beaten Edmonton and Buffalo in the past week and took Minnesota to overtime. A Seattle team on a back-to-back that has been leaking in goals with regularity.

As I approached today's slate, I couldn't believe what I was writing down, but the Blue Jackets to score and win were two of my initial leans on the day. I may still explore a bet in that form, but one prop that would be tied to such success is a points prop, and I'm liking what I see from Jack Roslovic.

Roslovic is on the Blue Jackets' second line, skating with Patrik Laine. For a team that has scored 13 goals in their past three games, finding a plus-money spot for a guy who has gotten in on the fun is something that tends to catch my eye.

Roslovic poured on four points the last time Columbus was at home, and he has three points in his last two meetings with the Kraken. I'm willing to take a shot here and follow my read of the situation.

.5u: Jakob Silfverberg goal (+400 DK)

Jakob Silfverberg became a personal favorite of mine earlier in the week when he scored a goal at +410, and I went back to him last game to failure.

However, I'm willing to reinvest a bit more of my initial winnings on him finding the back of the net again, which would be his fourth time in the past five games.

There's a few main reasons I'm drawn to Silfverberg. He remains on Anaheim's top line, and it's a game against Montreal that looks to be awesome for goals all around, especially with Sam Montembeault expected in net.

Despite snapping a three-game scoring streak last outing, Silfverberg got off four SOG on five attempts in his highest time on ice output in a few months.

He's involved out there, and the Canadiens have been particularly vulnerable to shots (sixth-most last 10) and goals (second-most last 10) to right wings. That's where Silfvervberg lines up, so let's give this another go.

1u: Brent Burns & Troy Terry over 2.5 SOG (+182 DK)

This is a very simple combination but one that looks just beautiful tonight. Brent Burns and Carolina are facing an Arizona team allowing 37.2 shots per game at home over their past 10 games. The Coyotes have shipped off their top two defensemen this past week, which figures to make their shot defense an even bigger issue moving forward.

Burns has gone over 2.5 shots in five straight against Arizona and eight of his last nine. The Coyotes have allowed the second-most shots to defensemen over the last 10 games and Burns is over 2.5 SOG in five of his last seven on the road.

Then there's Troy Terry, who I'd love to play up at 4+ shots when it becomes available. As mentioned, Montreal has had an issue against RW shots, and seeing as the Canadiens are allowing nearly 37 shots per game on the road, I expect Anaheim to find their spots.

Terry tops the Ducks in home shot volume of late and has the highest home hit-rate this season among available shooters.
