Jordie Benn is joining his brother Jamie in Dallas.
According to CapFriendly.com, the Dallas Stars have signed Jordie to a professional tryout before training camp opens up next month.
The 36-year-old signed a one-year, $750,000 with the Toronto Maple Leafs last summer. A groin injury sustained in training camp saw his year open on long-term injured reserve and then on loan with the Toronto Marlies. As the club went through injuries on defense, Benn went on a few runs with the Leafs where he played in 12 games while scoring a goal and adding an assist.
Benn quickly became a popular player in the Maple Leafs room but the injury bug caught him again. He sustained an upper-body injury on Nov. 23 in a game against the New Jersey Devils.
As Toronto regained its health on defense, Benn never found his way back with the Maple Leafs. He also sustained an injury with the Marlies in the spring, where he finished out his tenure.
Benn had two goals and four assists in 23 games with the Marlies. He added three assists in seven playoff games with the club.
