A brief American Hockey League conditioning stint for Ben Bishop has landed him back on the injured reserve.
Bishop has been recovering from meniscus surgery in his knee and on Thursday night played for the AHL Stars, allowing eight goals on 34 shots.
“It was a lot of fun to be back out there,” Bishop told reporters after the game. “Obviously, would have liked a little different result, but it’s been a long process, a long road to be able to get back and play in a game. Obviously, there’s still a little work to be done, a little rusty, but it felt really nice to be back out there.”
Bishop reported some knee soreness after the third period, and Saturday morning, the club announced he would be recalled from his conditioning stint and would be placed on the long-term injured reserve once again.
He hasn’t played an NHL game since Game 5 of the second round of the 2020 playoffs.
