Stars spoil Jesper Wallstedt's Wild debut in net
Jerome Miron / USA TODAY Sports

The Wild couldn't generate much offense Wednesday night at American Airlines Center and that didn't help Jesper Wallstedt while making his debut in net.

Seven different skaters scored for the Dallas Stars in their 7-2 victory over the Wild Wednesday in Dallas. It's Minnesota's second straight loss to the Stars.

Joe Pavelski started the scoring for the Stars (24-11-5) with an unassisted goal 16 minutes, 45 seconds into the first period, and former Wild center Sam Steel scored the final Dallas goal in the final two minutes to bury Minnesota.

Wallstedt stopped 27 of 34 shots in his debut.

The Wild (17-19-4) got third-period goals from Matt Boldy and Ryan Hartman, who scored on the power play, but those goals made it a 3-1 and 5-2 game, respectively. The Stars scored four goals in the third, with Jason Robertson, Nils Lundkvist and Tyler Senguin all scoring in the frame.

Dallas also got second-period goals from Matt Duchene and Roope Hintz.

The Wild will get a chance to bounce back on Friday with the Philadelphia Flyers visiting St. Paul. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
