Tyson Barrie Returns to Predators Lineup
USA TODAY Sports

The Nashville Predators made a few lineup changes in their afternoon game against the Arizona Coyotes Saturday. Forwards Michael McCarron and Phil Tomasino were healthy scratches as Kiefer Sherwood returned to the lineup and Cody Glass played his second game in a row after being a healthy scratch since January 9.

Tyson Barrie returned to the blue line after last playing December 23. Barrie has had a tough season with the Predators this year, playing just 30 of Nashville's 44 games. Many of his absences were healthy scratches although he has been listed as day-to-day for several weeks with an upper body injury. Barrie has one goal and eleven points on the season and has a -8 in plus/minus.

In early December Elliotte Friedman reported that Barrie had been given permission to talk to other teams about a potential trade.

General manager Barry Trotz was not happy that the information had gotten out and stated he didn't believe it came from anyone inside the Predators organization. While Barrie has been thought of as a trade piece since coming to Nashville in the Mattias Ekholm deal with the Edmonton Oilers, his future with the Predators has become more murky between the news of Barrie talking to other teams and being a healthy scratch.

His performance today could be important as the player and team look ahead.
