Watch: Avalanche Fans Give Erik Johnson A Standing Ovation
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Colorado Avalanche fans did a lot of cheering in the first period of Wednesday night’s game against the Buffalo Sabres.

Not only did the Avalanche score three goals in the first, but they were able to give Erik Johnson a warm welcome back to Ball Arena.

Johnson received a long tribute video on the Jumbotron during the first TV timeout, and after the video was over, Colorado fans gave him an extended standing ovation, including chanting his name for almost a minute. Nathan MacKinnon even came over to give him a tap on the pads.

Check out the video from inside the arena, including the ovation from the fans.

Johnson played 717 career NHL games with the Avalanche, scoring 68 goals and picking up 246 points.
