Will Celebrini, Smith help lead the San Jose Sharks to success?
Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

The San Jose Sharks won the 2024 Draft Lottery, indicating that they will be selecting No. 1 overall. General manager Mike Grier did not shy away from saying that the Sharks will be picking Macklin Celebrini at The Sphere in Las Vegas in June.

Today on Daily Faceoff Live, Colby Cohen and Frank Seravalli discuss the Sharks taking Celebrini and how Will Smith could find his way to San Jose sooner rather than later and help lead San Jose to success.

Colby Cohen: There is a domino effect to San Jose winning the lottery and this now means that Will Smith who is their other top prospect who was taken fourth overall a season ago, he is going to sign with the Sharks. I can’t say that with 100% certainty but there is a domino effect to this happening.

Frank Seravalli: So with Will Smith on the hypothetical that he is leaving BC to join Celerbini, how much does this change the outlook of the Sharks down the middle for the next 10-15 years having Smith and Celebrini?

Colby Cohen: You have your one-two punch. These are two can’t miss prospects and we don’t say that often, they’ve excelled at the highest levels and have checked every box, not only checked them but smoked these boxes. It will be interesting to see how Smith fares at the World Championships where he is playing on a line with Ryan Leonard and Joel Farabee.
