Napoli are said to have made an offer for Anel Ahmedhodzic as part of their efforts to strengthen their defence this month. The 24-year-old joined the Blades from the Swedish team Malmo in the summer of 2022, contributing significantly with 34 appearances and seven goals as they secured promotion to the Premier League under manager Paul Heckingbottom last season.

Ahmedhodzic has maintained a consistent presence in the starting lineup under both Heckingbottom and Chris Wilder this season at Bramall Lane, featuring in 14 Premier League matches and finding the back of the net once.

In addition to his contributions at club level, the centre-back has established himself as a key player on the international stage, earning 21 caps for Bosnia since his debut in September 2020.

Football Insider reports that Napoli have entered the competition to secure Ahmedhodzic’s services in the ongoing transfer window this month.

According to the report, Walter Mazzari’s side are actively seeking defensive reinforcements in January as they strive to improve their position in the Serie A standings. At the moment, the reigning Serie A champions find themselves in eighth place in the Italian top flight, trailing fourth-placed Fiorentina by three points after completing 20 matches.

There have been discussions about Chelsea’s Trevor Chalobah potentially joining the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, as the Englishman is deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge under Mauricio Pochettino.
