Kylian Mbappé didn’t perform well in the first leg against FC Barcelona, leading to the 3-2 loss. As a result, many expected the Frenchman to have a bounce-back performance in the return match.

After PSG’s challenging start, conceding the first goal and facing a 4-2 aggregate deficit, they were handed a lifeline. Ronald Araújo was sent off after a foul on Bradley Barcola in the middle of the first half, and PSG capitalized, scoring four unanswered goals.

Ousmane Dembélé leveled the score 1-1 during the match and later made it 4-3 on aggregate towards the end of the first half. Vitinha then scored in the 54th minute, bringing the aggregate score level to 4-4, as the Ligue 1 side took a 2-1 lead in the match.

Mbappé handed the final blows to Barcelona, scoring on a penalty kick in the 61st minute and adding the insurance goal in the 89th minute, bringing the aggregate score to 6-4. Additionally, the brace from the 25-year-old also put him in an exclusive club.

OptaJean pointed out on X that Mbappé has netted five goals against Barcelona in the Champions League, making them his most scored-against team in the competition. Thomas Müller holds the record with eight goals against the Blaugrana.

PSG are now off to the UEFA Champions League semifinal, where they’ll face a familiar foe in Borussia Dortmund, whom they’ve already encountered in the group stage this season.
