Yan Couto’s future appears to be with Manchester City. Couto has starred for Girona so far this season which had put him on the radar of Real Madrid. Spanish outlet Fichajes had previously reported that the Spanish giants could move for Couto this summer. But a new report indicates that Real Madrid have cooled their interest in the youngster.

A report from Bernabeu Digital indicates that Real Madrid have decided against making a move for Yan Couto. They further add that the performance by the youngster in Girona’s 4-nil loss to Real last weekend has raised doubts about his suitability to play for the La Liga leaders. It was a rare off day for the defender against the La Liga leaders.

If the new report is correct it may indicate that Yan Couto’s future lies at the Etihad Stadium. If that is the case it would be Manchester City’s gain. With Kyle Walker getting towards the end of his career Couto could get an opportunity to impress Pep Guardiola next summer. He is due to return to Manchester City at the end of this season. There is vacancy at right-back there if Couto is given an opportunity to impress.

Since being signed by Manchester City the young full-back has spent his time out on loan. It has given Couto the opportunity to develop his game and pick up valuable experience across Europe. If he is to play his way into Pep Guardiola’s squad that experience will be a valuable asset for the Brazilian international.

It remains to be seen if Yan Couto’s future lies at Manchester City. If Real Madrid have cooled their interest in Couto it could be to City’s gain as they search for potential replacement for Kyle Walker and may have a ready-made one in Couto.
