The No. 3 pick of the 2014 NFL Draft has ridden off into the sunset without giving anybody any advance warning. Per Jeremy Layton of the New York Post, quarterback Blake Bortles confirmed on the latest edition of the "Pardon My Take" podcast that his playing career has come to an end. "I have not touched a football since January.
Though he said he was retired, Bortles admitted he would come back if a team offered him a crazy contract like $15 million over two years.
Blake Bortles clearly doesn’t want to compete to be a third-string quarterback.
Bortles fell down the depth chart after New Orleans acquired Dalton and noted the 29-year-old wants "a better opportunity to be a No. 2 quarterback elsewhere."
The New Orleans Saints, in all likelihood, are going to add a quarterback this offseason. If they don’t, they’ll be forced to roll with Blake Bortles or Ian Book as their starter for the 2022 season and that’s not an ideal situation to be in.
The Saints signed quarterback Blake Bortles to their practice squad on Dec. 24 after Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemian tested positive for COVID-19. He backed up rookie Ian Book against the Dolphins in Week 16 but did not see any action.
Brees reportedly gave the idea "some serious thought."
The New Orleans Saints' quarterback situation just got even more interesting.
Bortles will be the third QB on the roster behind disgruntled starter Aaron Rodgers and 2020 first-round pick Jordan Love.
Bortles has been with the Broncos since late September and is free to join the Rams' active roster since he's only on Denver's practice squad.
Blake Bortles bought himself a Tesla for the silliest reason. The former Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback appeared on Barstool Sports podcast “Pardon My Take” and shared the story of his new car purchase.
